"Improving Connection with Horses through Science" is the theme of this upcoming conference, which will promote the application of objective research and advanced practice to improve the welfare of horses in a variety of contexts.

The 20th International Society for Equitation Science Conference is back in the U.S. for the first time in over a decade on July 23rd – 26th, 2025. This conference location will be a vacation destination hosted by Colorado State University in the heart of Old Town Fort Collins, Colorado! Fort Collins boasts 300 days of sunshine, spectacular mountain views, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the town and mountains!

Conference Details

This multi-day, interdisciplinary conference will explore scientific insights into the unique bond between horses and humans and how we can apply this knowledge to enhance horse welfare. In alignment with the ISES mission, the event will emphasize the importance of objective research and best practices in improving the well-being of horses in their interactions with humans. The conference will delve into the complexities of various human-horse relationships, examine what we’ve learned about these interactions, and further discuss ways to strengthen our connections with these remarkable animals.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Travel Grants (Members Only)

The ISES travel grant(s) will be awarded to individuals intending to attend the 2025 conference in Colorado, USA. Three grants of £1000 each will be awarded to assist with travel costs. Applications will be judged based on reasons why it is important for the applicant to attend (e.g. presentation of research or updating knowledge) and financial need. One grant will be awarded to a student, one to a practitioner and one to an applicant representing a historically underrepresented group. Travel grants are open to ISES members (i.e. are not restricted to those who submit research abstracts).
